Cabbage Row during the 1950s |
Cabbage Row was a terrace of four three-storey houses along Upper Bond Street. These houses had no bathroom, just a tin tub in the kitchen. There were two toilets at the top of the garden which meant the toilet was for two families to share.
Local artist Cicely Pickering drew the back of the houses which look almost picturesque in the drawing.
Early 1960s Cabbage Row that was owned by the Masons the builder was demolished to make way for a garage development.
